AMI Acquire US Competitor

Europe’s largest replacement heat exchanger manufacturer, AMI Exchanger Limited (AMI) today announced its acquisition of Florida based heat exchanger manufacture Applied Cooling Technology LLC (ACT).

Based in Hartlepool, England, AMI is a part of the worldwide marine components group ‘Diesel Marine International’ (DMI).

AMI Heat Exchangers was honoured in 2010 with The Queens Award for Enterprise (International Trade), due to its renowned name for the supplying high quality replacement heat exchangers for the marine, offshore and industrial applications worldwide, exporting products to over 38 countries each year.

The newly agreed acquisition between AMI and ACT will see The DMI group adding additional investment and a variety of additional products to the US market. The manufacturing facilities will incorporate additional machinery to allow the production of the largest types of Charge Air Coolers. A reconditioning centre will be incorporated into the business for used Charge Air Coolers, HVAC and Plate Heat Exchangers. These additional services will further expand our services to the local Cruise operators and the international shipping market.

“We believe that combining the strengths of our European and North American facilities, together with NEW additional products and services will benefit our clients from both locations.” Nick Welford CEO of ACT comments.

“Applied Cooling Technology will continue to operate from its existing premises in Cape Coral together with its current staff providing the high level of customer service that is expected”. Says Nick

Complimenting DMI Group’s strategy of providing high quality Marine and Industrial and cooling solutions worldwide, the acquisition agreement will increase the number of port locations for DMI services; due to ACT’s joining in the group.

The DMI Group has over 70 years history, inventing piston crown chromium reconditioning for Marine Diesel Engines over 30 years ago, working alongside Engine maker Sulzer. The Group has since established business partnerships with leading industry players like COSCO, China Shipping and China Merchants Bank since 1989 enabling DMI productions in China. DMI now operates 6 core businesses and a number of joint ventures in Europe, Middle East, Asia, and North America.
